Job Description
Shipping Coordinator
Location: Mesquite, TX
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 AM until completion 5PM- 8PM (overtime as needed)
Pay Rate: $14- $16/hour (DOE)
Duties:
Calculate data required for shipments, including weight, pallets, cartons, and cubes.
Secure freight quotes from designated carriers.
Coordinate with carriers and freight forwarders to schedule the pickup of goods.
Generate accurate bills of lading for outbound freight.
Ensure orders and shipping quantities match, assist in resolving discrepancies, and identify root causes and corrective actions.
Facilitate efficient and accurate staging before loading.
Direct shipping handlers’ activities on the dock and ensure drivers depart with appropriate paperwork.
Confirm physical shipment of goods and initiate tracking.
Record and monitor shipments.
Handle tracer inquiries via email, phone, and fax.
Report damages and discrepancies for accounting, reimbursement, and record-keeping purposes.
Complete management reports as needed.
Assist in other work areas during absences or staff shortages.
Requirements:
3-4 years of experience in shipping or administrative support
Strong organizational and communication skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of multitasking under deadlines.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Most of the work occurs in a typical office environment, with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, using a computer and other office equipment.
Moderate walking and standing in the warehouse, observing shipping/driver activities and interacting with staging personnel, loaders, and drivers.
Follow and adhere to all company safety policies and regulations.
