Heavy Assembler III – 2nd Shift

Shift: Monday – Thursday | 1:30 PM – 12:00 AM
Experience Required: 6–9 years
Position Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

The Heavy Assembler III is a senior-level role responsible for assembling, integrating, and troubleshooting highly complex mechanical systems and large-scale assemblies. This position requires advanced technical expertise, independent decision-making, and the ability to mentor junior assemblers while ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and integrate complex, large-scale mechanical systems, subassemblies, and final assemblies using detailed blueprints, schematics, and engineering documentation.

  • Interpret advanced technical drawings, GD&T, torque specifications, and bills of materials.

  • Perform complex mechanical alignments, calibrations, and precision fits.

  • Troubleshoot assembly issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.

  • Lead or support complex build sequences and special projects.

  • Conduct in-process and final inspections to ensure assemblies meet engineering and quality standards.

  • Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to Heavy Assembler I & II team members.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve design or process issues.

  • Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency, safety, and product quality.

  • Ensure strict compliance with safety procedures, quality systems, and production schedules.

  • Accurately complete advanced documentation, deviation reports, and production records.

  • Support continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and 5S initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 6–9 years of hands-on experience in heavy or complex mechanical assembly.

  • Advanced mechanical aptitude with proven experience assembling large, precision, or high-tolerance components.

  • Expert ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and GD&T.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, torque tools, precision measuring instruments, and alignment equipment.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound technical decisions.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to lead by example.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (with or without assistance).

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, kneel, and reach for extended periods.

  • Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment with heavy equipment
