Battery Maintenance & Refurbishment Technician

Pay & Schedule

  • Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour

  • Shift:  7:00 AM – 3:30 PM


Job Summary

The Battery Maintenance & Refurbishment Technician supports battery service operations by performing tasks such as disassembly, de-energizing, cleaning, reassembly, and re-energizing of battery packs. This role assists in inspecting, testing, and maintaining electrical components to ensure safe and reliable battery performance.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working with hand tools in a production or technical environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and apply basic battery maintenance and repair procedures

  • Assist with disassembly and repair of batteries and battery packs using hand and power tools

  • Inspect and test electrical connections and components

  • Identify issues, replace faulty parts, and verify proper operation

  • Evaluate battery fluid condition, remove fluids as needed, and safely handle and contain battery fluids

  • Disconnect electrical leads and support safe de-energizing procedures

  • Sort, package, and prepare battery components for shipping or reuse

  • Accurately record maintenance and production data in the Alfred CMMS system

  • Follow all safety protocols, quality standards, and required PPE guidelines

  • Support battery refurbishment projects and complete additional assigned tasks


Required Experience & Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Up to 2 years of experience in manufacturing, automotive, technical repair, or a related field

  • Strong experience using hand and power tools

  • Basic computer skills for data entry, database use, and email communication

  • Ability to read and follow written operating instructions

  • Strong attention to detail, quality focus, and commitment to safety

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams


Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or certification in automotive, electrical, or technical disciplines

  • Experience in the EV battery or automotive industry


Physical Requirements (Depowering Area – OKC)

  • Lift up to 65 lbs independently and up to 137 lbs with team assistance

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, and lifting

  • Good hand and finger dexterity with strong hand-eye coordination

  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently

  • Physical stamina and mental focus to meet production timelines under strict safety guidelines

PPE Requirements

Standard PPE includes:

  • Safety glasses

  • Safety vest

  • Hearing protection

  • Safety footwear

Additional PPE may be required depending on specific tasks.
