Arbitrator I

Job Description
We’re seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Arbitrator I to support vehicle dispute resolution operations in Matteson. This role is responsible for reviewing customer complaints and mechanic reports, inspecting vehicles to assess condition and necessary repairs, and facilitating fair, timely resolutions between buyers and sellers in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines.
Location: Matteson, IL
Shift: In Office 9AM-5PM & Remote Friday’s 9AM-5PM
Pay Rate: Starting at $19/hour (BOE)
Key Responsibilities:

Review customer complaints and mechanic reports regarding vehicle condition.

Inspect vehicles to determine the extent of repairs, authorize second opinions when necessary, and document findings.

Advise customers on Auction policies and the arbitration process; mediate disputes and negotiate repair costs or pricing adjustments to reach mutually acceptable solutions while working to keep vehicles sold.

Resolve after-sale issues including title discrepancies, mileage concerns, frame damage, and related matters.

Maintain accurate and organized files for each arbitration case; collaborate with sales personnel regarding vehicle sale details.

Serve as a liaison with federal and state authorities on matters such as odometer rollbacks and salvage vehicles.

Promote Auction services, including post-sale inspections (PSI), to support customer satisfaction and retention.

Review and evaluate claims to ensure compliance with National Arbitration policies and account-specific guidelines; make or advise on financial decisions related to arbitrations

Partner with internal departments during fact-finding and investigative phases of complaints.

Screen and process qualified vehicles for post-sale inspections and inform buyers and sellers about timelines, costs, and procedures.
Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

3–5 years of automotive, mechanical, or body shop experience, including complaint documentation and resolution preferred.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with solid organizational abilities.

Effective report writing and composition skills preferred.

Working knowledge of federal and state laws related to vehicle arbitration.
