Job Description
JOB PURPOSE:
The SMT Repair Technical will be responsible for performing functional testing, inspecting and component level troubleshooting of complex Printed Circuit Boards and Assemblies position will assemble components to circuit boards in a cellular manufacturing environment to established specifications per daily schedules.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Assemble circuit boards and small mechanical products
· Work from verbal and written instructions such as bills of material, routings, samples and work instructions.
· Operate equipment includes hand tools (cutters, pliers, pick, hands screw drivers and box cutter), drill press, tape dispenser, hand press, conformal coat spray, heat guns, wire stripper, pallet jacks, solder tools (Solder station and solder pot), basic computers and re-enforce packaging equipment.
· Inspect finished SMT and through hole assemblies as required per IPC-610
· Maintain product integrity by using electro-static discharge (ESD) protective equipment throughout the assembly and handling process.
· Install and solder wires and through components to PCBA (Offline hand soldering) to meet production specifications and standards.
· Set up test fixture and test products per routing/work instruction offline (None LED production, battery charging)
· Set up cut/strip wire machine (cut and strip wires)
· Perform inline testing (Set up in-line auto test box) to meet production specifications and standards.
· Perform assembly operations under microscope or with another magnifying device.
· Provide input on tools, procedures, tooling, fixtures, etc. in order to improve the assembly process.
· Perform inspection using the X-ray machine
· Perform inline hand soldering to meet production specifications and standards.
· Operator the depanelize machine
· Troubleshoot and repair failures; diagnose root cause
· Conduct manual soldering; Thru-Hole, SMT, Leadless components (LEDs and QFN)
· Use complex equipment for troubleshooting and repair duties
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Perform other duties as assigned
CRITICAL SKILLS / EXPERTISE:
· Must be able to read instructions and identify standard SMT components
· Prior experience placing components onto circuit boards, a plus
· Must be mechanically inclined
· Dexterity and good hand-eye coordination is required in order to work with small components
· Visually able to identify color to identify component values
· Must be proficient in verbal and written (English) communication to understand and follow detailed job-related instructions
· Actively participate in ongoing individual training & development program
· Work as a team member to maintain work center in a neat and orderly manner, perform housekeeping tasks, and assist other employees as required
· Moderate standing and some walking throughout the work area
· A high level of self-initiative and dependability is desired
· Strong understanding of printed circuit board testing procedures
· Experience reading prints, schematics and other manufacturing documents.
· Ability to work in both team and individual environments with minimal supervision is required.
· Expert manual soldering skills, Thru-Hole, SMT, Leadless, BGAs.
· Use all electronics equipment, DVM, Oscilloscope, Network Analyzer, Waveform Generators, LCR Meters, etc.
