Battery Maintenance Technician - Depower

Position Overview

The Battery Maintenance Technician - Depower plays a critical role in the safe disassembly, inspection, testing, and refurbishment of electric vehicle (EV) batteries and battery packs. This position supports battery reuse operations by assisting with depowering processes, diagnosing battery issues, replacing components, and preparing materials for shipment. Technicians work in a warehouse environment while adhering to strict safety, quality, and operational standards.


Pay: $16.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday - Friday | 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
Location: Oklahoma City, OK 73149
Interviews Required for All New Hires


Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE while performing battery maintenance and depowering tasks.

  • Assist with the disassembly, de-energization, cleaning, and reassembly of batteries and battery packs.

  • Inspect batteries, electrical connections, components, and wiring for defects or performance issues.

  • Use electrical testing equipment to assess battery functionality and identify failures.

  • Replace faulty components, fuses, and battery parts to restore functionality.

  • Handle battery fluids safely, including inspection, removal, mixing, and containment processes.

  • Disconnect electrical leads and prepare battery components for processing and shipment.

  • Support battery repair and refurbishment operations for reuse applications.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance and production records within company databases and tracking systems.

  • Follow company quality management procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with up to 2 years of related experience.

  • Strong experience using hand tools and power tools.

  • Basic computer skills, including data entry and email communication.

  • Ability to read and follow written operating instructions.

  • Excellent attention to detail, quality, and safety.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or certification in an automotive, technical, or related field.

  • Experience working with EV batteries, battery systems, or the automotive industry.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, or technical environment with strict safety standards.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 65 pounds individually and heavier items with team assistance.

  • Constant standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and lifting throughout the shift.

  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.

  • Ability to work safely and efficiently while meeting production goals and quality standards.
