Bakery Clerk / Retail Sales Associate

Location: Bloomingdale, IL
Shift: 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Pay: $16.00 per hour

Job Description

We are currently hiring a Bakery Clerk / Retail Sales Associate for a busy bakery facility in Bloomingdale, IL. This position involves assisting customers, processing sales, taking bakery orders, maintaining product displays, and ensuring a clean and organized retail environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with purchases and answering questions.

• Answer incoming phone calls and take cake, bread, and other bakery orders.

• Recommend bakery products and use suggestive selling techniques.

• Operate the cash register and process customer transactions.

• Prepare and maintain wholesale invoices.

• Keep pastry display cases stocked, clean, and properly labeled.

• Place necessary pastry and bread orders to maintain inventory.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming retail area.

• Assist with light bakery production tasks as needed.

• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Previous retail, bakery, or customer service experience preferred.

• Strong communication and customer service skills.

• Basic math skills and ability to operate a cash register.

• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong attention to detail when taking and processing orders.

• Ability to stand for extended periods.

• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

• Ability to follow food safety and sanitation guidelines.
